CABARROGUIS, Quirino, July 19 (PIA) -- Governor Dakila Carlo E. Cua officiated the oath taking of the officers of the newly organized Quirino Bamboo Industry Cluster (QBIC) at the Capitol Plaza Hotel and Restaurant recently.
In his message, Cua expressed his support to the organization and to its future projects that will be implemented.
Cua stressed the significance of bamboo being a sustainable raw material for production compared to other materials.
The QBIC is composed of the following officers: Johnny T. Chan (Maddela), chairperson; Bonifacio V. Labatos Jr., Didipio, co-chairperson and Conchita G. Uy (Gundaway), vice chairperson.
Representatives include Simeon Cayetano (RPEA/Rafael Palma, Diffun), Cresencio Cadingan (UDUFA/Dibibi, Cabarroguis), Orlando Salvador (LGU/Maddela), Virgilio Cuaresma (Dumabel, Aglipay), Nemia H. Echanes (GoQuirinians/ Cabarroguis) and Mario Q. Badongen (SRC Maddela).
Other members are David Yanguas-DENR; Efren Ramos-Rafael Palma EA; Rico Bascon-(PO-NGP); Ricardo Espe-Zamora; Rodolfo Reyes-DA QES; Alicia Mason-DOLE; John M. The organization of the QBIC was initiated by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) regional and provincial offices as a start towards the development of bamboo industry in the province.
This is in support to Executive Order No. 879 which stated that the Philippine Bamboo Industry Development shall be made a priority program of the government and the Philippine Bamboo Industry Development Council (PBIDC) was created to provide the over-all policy and program directions of the program for all stakeholders.
The DTI being the chair of the PBIDC in the national down to the local level convened the Local Government Units (LGUs), Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Labor and Employment, Oceana Gold Philippines Inc., bamboo growers/producers and other private sectors for the Industry Cluster Organization.
